PACA organizers with 2012 City of Philadelphia resolution recognizing the importance of cooperatives in our regional economy.
The Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance (PACA) was born in the planning stages of the June 13, 2012 conference. In February 2012, a commitment was made to creating a membership organization for area co-ops with a board and staff. In March, PACA formulated its mission: “to improve the Philadelphia region by growing the cooperative economy.”
At the November 2012 Philly Co-op Summit, PACA further discussed its vision, mission, and goals along with its membership structure and governance. A steering committee was elected at this summit. In December 2014, PACA held its first Annual Member Meeting and elected its first board.
