Being a member of the Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance is an opportunity for all regional cooperatives to collaborate and build a vibrant and growing network of cooperative enterprises that operate in all sectors of the economy to build a better world  — providing essential services, strengthening democratic organizations, create quality jobs, building community wealth, reduce poverty, strengthening our local economy, protecting the environment and increasing community engagement.

Eligibility

PACA membership is open to all cooperative organizations in the Philadelphia region that operate according to the International Cooperative Alliance’s definition of a cooperative.

Membership Classes & Voting

Full Voting Members: Co-ops and credit unions; each organization receives one vote.

Start-Ups & Associate Members: Organizations or businesses supporting, in theory and practice, the worker cooperative model. Associate members do not have voting privileges but are welcome to participate in PACA activities and access benefits.

Membership Dues

Flat Rate: $250 for new and annual membership (one exception applies).

High-Revenue Co-ops: After a three-year start-up period, co-ops generating $1 million in revenue will pay $1,500 annually.

Sliding Scale Proposal: PACA has two years to propose a sliding-scale dues structure, to be voted on by the end of 2027. If not adopted, PACA will revert to the original dues structure in 2028.

Paying Membership Dues

Membership dues are a way to contribute to PACA and ensure we are able to continue providing programs, resources, and opportunities for the growing solidarity movement.

If you do not receive confirmation from a PACA staff member within a month that your membership dues have been received, please contact us with the subject line “Submission of Membership Dues” so that we can verify receipt and update our records accordingly.

Representation: Amplify and advocate for co-ops and credit unions with government agencies, partner organizations, social and economic justice movements and the public.

Legislative Support: Promote legislative and policy initiatives and campaigns that strengthen the cooperative movement.
