Each year, PACA co-op members nominate and elect new board members to serve on PACA’s board of directors. Now through October 5th, PACA’s Nominating Committee will be accepting nominees (individuals who are member-owners or worker-owners of PACA member co-ops) to fill three open board positions for three-year terms and one board position for a two year term.
Who are we looking for to serve?
PACA’s leadership needs to reflect who we serve. PACA works to serve existing and start-up co-ops, and many of the co-ops coming into existence are mostly in poor/working-class communities that are economically and racially marginalized. Our board needs to be more inclusive of income diversity so that we have board members with useful skills, varied lived experience and perspectives to make our organization stronger.
Considering PACA’s current and anticipated needs, we would especially welcome co-op member nominees with one or more of these experiences: Non-profit finances; fundraising at the grassroots and/or foundation level; have skills in organizational development; or who are working class, low income, or experiencing poverty.
Spread the Word… and Nominate!
With this in mind, we urge you to get the word out in your co-op and identify individuals who might be suitable candidates.
PACA is leading the cooperative movement in the Philadelphia region. We hope that you or other members of your co-op will join our board to become part of this dynamic and growing organization!
